The U.S.S. Midway Museum is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year.
After opening in 2004 as a naval aviation museum, the Museum has proved
to be one of San Diego’s major tourist attractions!
A member of the USS Midway Museum’s Speaker’s Bureau, Herb Zoehrer,
will be the guest speaker for the Escondido Republican Club’s (TERC) meeting
on Monday, June 16th.
For those of us who have supported the USS Midway Museum from its
beginning in 2004, we are delighted to share in the celebration of the
Midway Museum’s 10th Anniversary. There were many naysayers at first;
however, thanks to all of the Midway’s supporters locally and across the nation,
the USS Midway has become the most-visited naval ship museum in the world!
Mr. Zoehrer will be sharing the ‘inside story’ of the Midway’s success
and how the Midway Museum is becoming a major San Diego community resource.
He will also be sharing plans that lie ahead for the USS Midway Museum.
The USS Midway Museum is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that
was established. The Museum, governed by a board of directors,
opened in June 2004.
Imagine experiencing life at sea aboard one of America’s longest-serving
aircraft carriers. Visitors to the USS Midway Museum enter a floating city
at sea and walk in the footsteps of 225,000 Midway sailors who served
our country and upheld the American ideals of strength, freedom and peace.
The USS Midway Museum is an unforgettable adventure for the entire family.
Guests can spend the day exploring more than 60 exhibits with a collection of
29 restored aircraft. The self-guided audio tour, narrated by Midway sailors,
brings the carrier’s history to life. Those who dare can “take to the sky” aboard
one of two flight simulators.
