Edward N. Domingue, P.E.
City of Escondido’s Public Works Director
and City Engineer
Ed was raised locally attending elementary, middle and high schools in Escondido. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering 1976. Thereafter he was commissioned and served 5 years in the United States Air Force as a civil engineering officer at two duty stations– Dyess AFB (Abilene), Texas and Lajes Field, Azores Islands (Terceira), Portugal. He returned home to Escondido in 1981 to raise his family here and spent the next few years as a consulting engineer in several San Diego county engineering firms before starting at the City of Escondido in 1999. For the first 5 years at the City of Escondido he focused on federal aid transportation/traffic projects. Ed then managed several major capital improvement projects and the Engineering Traffic, and the Office Engineering (private improvements plan checking) Sections. The last seven years Ed has been the Department Director, including the transition time that reestablished the Escondido Public Works Department. He is a registered civil engineer in the states of California and Colorado and a member of the American Public Works Association. He likes being a grandpa to his 10 grandchildren, home improvement projects-including gardening, science fiction/adventure/fantasy reading, and fishing. Ed and his wife Beth also attend and are active at Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido.
