The Republican Party of San Diego County is the official Republican campaign organization in San Diego County and is governed by the men and women of the Central Committee. These are San Diego County residents elected by their communities to represent them in their party for four-year terms.
Paula Whitsell was first elected Chair of the Republican Party of San Diego County in 2021, and was again elected in 2024. Prior to serving as Chair, Paula served as 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary, and Communications Chair. She has been on the County Central Committee since 2010. Before her involvement in the Party, Paula lived in Brazil for many years. When inflation got so high that it was impossible to raise her family, she made the decision to come back to San Diego. So with her husband, three kids and three suitcases in hand, the family started over. Paula worked in the financial industry for many years. She moved over to real estate and mortgage banking in 2002 founding a small real estate firm. In 2019 she was one of the founding members of American Mortgage Network. In 2023, she started a publishing company.
