May 18, 2026 – Journalist / Activist Amy Reichert

Amy Reichert works as an investigative journalist and licensed private investigator exposing government waste fraud and corruption. During the pandemic, she co-founded “ReOpen San Diego.” Currently, she is chairwoman of “Restore San Diego.”  After running as a candidate in the special election for the San Diego Board of Supervisors, she now wants to be known as a “journalist” and “activist” rather than a politician.

As a lifelong resident of San Diego, she has witnessed firsthand the alarming decline the city of San Diego and the county have experienced over the past five years. The increased cost of living, and the erosion of personal freedoms at the hands of elected officials controlled by special interests have been deeply concerning to her and many others.  Her realization came in 2020 when it became clear that elected officials shut out the public and censored members of the public that disagreed with them.  As a cofounder of Reopen San Diego, she took decisive action in leading a successful federal lawsuit against the city of San Diego’s mandates which ultimately preserved the jobs of our essential first responders and our liberty.  With San Diego now reopened, it is time to Restore San Diego.

Four goals of Restore San Diego: 1 get the government out of our lives, 2 civic engagement, 3 expose fraud, waste and abuse, and 4 protect student and parental rights.
